Counselling and Anxiety

Anxiety can be many things: the worries that stop you from sleeping, the sick feeling in your stomach when you meet up with friends, the panicky feeling that can seem to come from nowhere. It can stop you from doing what you want, it can feel awful, and it can stop you from thinking the thoughts you would like.

Talking about anxiety in therapy can help. Talking brings the anxiety out into the open, out of your head. Together, you and your therapist can explore what your anxiety feels like, and what it means. You can discuss strategies you have tried or would like to try, and work out what is going to help.

As a person-centred counsellor, I believe that you are the expert in what it is like for you. We’ll team up and talk about your anxiety – led by you. I’ll share ideas as they occur to me, and we’ll see what’s useful. Together, we’ll gain an understanding of your anxiety, and with more understanding it becomes easier to make changes.

If you think we could work together on your anxiety, please get in touch and let’s arrange an initial meeting or a first session.
